The Sherborn Forest and Trail Association has its annual fall Hunter Pace traditionally on the first Sunday in November.  A hunter pace is a marked trail ride covering, on average, eight miles of beautiful Sherborn trails. This course is usually ridden in teams of two or three riders and timed. The team with the time closest to the optimum time wins. There is a

hunting pace division for those wishing to move along on the course and there is hilltop division for those who prefer to go at a more leisurely pace. We also offer a best matched team prize for those who feel like dressing up in whatever strikes their fancy. The purpose of our hunter pace is to introduce riders to the beautiful trail systems Sherborn has to offer and to raise funds for the association. The pace is the largest fundraiser for the association. These funds are used to support the activities of the association. Some of the activities include trail maintenance, educational cocktail parties and donations to assist in purchasing open space for the town.

The association tries to use public lands whenever possible, but through the generous support of private landowners, some of the route passes over private land which is only open to riders for the day and makes this hunter pace very special. The parking of horse trailers can be an issue so we usually require entries to pre-enter to ensure space for the riders.

Our hunter pace is very popular for its scenic trails and good food! Association members provide home baked goods, some of which have become traditional favorites as well as warm cider and yummy chili. We encourage all association members and all Sherborn citizens to come out and enjoy the day with us.
